Iles Julie has
been training dogs for more than 25 years. Shy
as a child, her best friend was her dog “Sam”.
This relationship developed in her a natural feel for
dogs. Later, her education at U.C. Davis with an emphasis
on learning theory helped her add a scientific aspect
to her natural ability.
Julie’s techniques
have been proven on the competition field. She
was ranked 2nd in the nation in the National Association
of Protection Dogs with her Dutch Shepherd “Fedor”.
“Fedor” was an extreme dog that was “handler
aggressive” meaning he would bite his handler
just as easily as he would bite the “bad guy”.
Always a challenge, “Fedor” taught Julie
much about the value of good observational skills and
the correct application of psychological methods to
make a proven dog/human team.
Several years ago, Julie
was responsible for writing a correspondence program
for new dog training students wishing to become dog
trainers and current dog trainers wanting to improve
their skills. She set up this program for Animal
Behavior and Training Associates. ABTA is the nation’s
largest dog training company. Julie’s program
was so successful that it became a new and separate
company known as Animal Behavior University. Each month,
nearly 100 students from all over the country take the
course of instruction she created.
Julie is truly a trainer’s
trainer. Most of her clients are referrals who
have had unproductive training experiences with other
trainers. Julie’s ability to pin point the real
root of a dog’s problem(s) allows her to create
extremely efficient training solutions. She realizes
that dog owners do not wish to become dog trainers!
They just want their problems resolved so they can enjoy
their pet.
