in collaboration with global diversity and inclusion, portland state university's diversity action council invites the campus community to save the date for the sixth annual psu culturally responsive symposium: community healing and transformative justice.

call for proposals

the 2020 symposium committee invites you to share your experience, knowledge, expertise and/or research with your colleagues.  the purpose of this symposium is to explore perspectives related to race, sexuality, gender, ability, socioeconomic class, and religion (not to preclude other considerations such as age, veteran status and national origin); address different aspects of the work to be done to promote an inclusive environment at psu; break down barriers, challenge stereotypes, celebrate differences and illuminate intersecting commonalities between people, culture, and community.
you are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to impact classrooms, office spaces and the psu community-at-large.  consider the possible theme, topics and approaches below.

  • arts for healing
  • allyship
  • trauma sensitive classrooms
  • Inclusive Curriculum & Paradigm Shift of Higher Ed
  • history, roots, ancestors and their role in academia
  • holistic support of marginalized students
  • embracing intersectionality
  • communicating your value
  • building community resilience
  • cultural humility

we invite proposals for a variety of formats (workshop, panel, etc.).  the committee encourages faculty, staff and students to co-present.  please click the button below to submit a proposal for consideration.
